SASKATOON – What was a close game at halftime turned into a convincing win for the Saskatchewan Huskies as they ran out to an 83-58 victory over the visiting UBC Okanagan Heat on Saturday night.
 
Saskatchewan outscored the Heat by 17 points in the second half, buoyed by a stifling defence that limited UBCO to just 10 points in the final 10 minutes of play.
 
A trio of players shone for the Huskies with Kessler Bishop leading the way. The second-year forward from Okotoks, AB scored a career-high 19 points and also pulled down 17 rebounds in the game. Alexander Dewar also finished with 19 points while JT Robinson, playing in front of friends and family for the final regular season home game of his Huskie career, added 18 points.
 
Hafith Moallin had a big game for the Heat, scoring 17 points and adding seven assists. Imoudu Ibrahim chipped in with 11 points of his own.
 
Much like in their game on Friday night, a close contest was blown wide open in the third quarter. With the score 39-32 in favour of Saskatchewan at the start of the frame, Robinson and Bishop combined for 13 points in a 13-4 run to put the game out of reach.
 
With the win Saskatchewan keeps pace in a tight postseason race. The Huskies now hold a record of 12-6 and with two games left to play are one of four teams within three games of each other in a battle for fifth place in the conference.
 
For UBCO meanwhile, the game brings an end to a season that saw them go 3-17 in Canada West play. Their loss combined with Brandon's win over Trinity Western officially eliminates them from postseason contention.
 
Saskatchewan will be back in action next weekend when they wrap up their season with a pair of games against the Alberta Golden Bears in Edmonton.
