SASKATOON – Two provincial rivals will meet yet again this coming weekend when the University of Saskatchewan Huskies women's hockey team and the Regina Cougars do battle, this time however, there will be some added significance in the clash.

Just four points separate the teams in the Canada West standings as the No. 10 Huskies hold onto fourth place with a record of 7-6-4-1, good for 30 points compared to the Cougars' 7-7-1-3 and 26 points.

With ten games left on the schedule, this weekend could go a long way in determining who earns the right to host a playoff series.

The home-and-home set will begin inside Merlis Belsher Place on Friday night before the two teams travel south to Regina for a game on Saturday.

Saskatchewan comes into the weekend after a sweep of the Calgary Dinos at home in their first action of 2019 while the Cougars split a weekend set with the Lethbridge Pronghorns in Regina.

5 Things

1: For the second time this season the two provincial rivals will split a weekend between Saskatoon and Regina.

2: In their previous meetings this season, both squads won their respective games at home back in October by identical scores of 2-0.

3: Regina is just four points behind the Huskies for fourth-place in the conference.

4: The rivalry has been incredibly even of late with the teams splitting the last three weekends that they have played against each other.

5: After this weekend, the Huskies will have just two home weekends remaining in their 2018-19 regular season campaign.
