Canada West Goaltender of the Year Roddy Ross Invited to Vancouver Canucks 2025 Development Camp

VANCOUVER, B.C. - 2025 Canada West Goaltender of the Year and University of Saskatchewan (USask) Huskies Outstanding Male Athlete Roddy Ross has been invited to the Vancouver Canucks' 2025 Development Camp, the club announced Sunday evening (June 29).

Included in the development camp roster of 33 players are selections from the 2025 NHL Draft, select players from previous drafts, and invitees.

A product of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, Roddy Ross has most recently competed with the Wichita Thunder, the ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks and San Jose Barracuda, where he appeared in three regular-season games, recording a 1.65 goals against average and .957 save percentage. He also started two games in the postseason before the Thunder were eliminated in the opening round of the 2025 Kelly Cup Playoffs.

Prior to signing with the Thunder, Ross started 14 games for the Huskie Men's Hockey team in 2024-25, recording 10 wins while helping lead the nationally-ranked Dogs to the top of the Canada West standings. In the postseason, he continued his impressive play between the pipes, recording four wins which included a shutout in game three of the finals to help lead the Huskies to their first Canada West title since 2019-20. He would also start three games at the University Cup, earning a pair of wins to help Saskatchewan claim a national bronze medal.

The conference leader in both save percentage (.928) and goals against average (1.99), he became just the third student-athlete in program history to be named the Canada West Goaltender of the Year, which he earned in addition to a U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian nod. Ross was also named the 2025 recipient of the USask Huskies' E. Kent Phillips Trophy as the Most Outstanding Male Athlete.

Before he was a Huskie, Ross spent three seasons in WHL, playing for the Seattle Thunderbirds and Regina Pats, where he appeared in 90 total games and earned a .906 save percentage and 3.16 goals against average. His play with the Thunderbirds led him to be selected in the sixth round, 169th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2019 NHL Draft.
