Gage Grassick Sets Program Assist Record in Regular Season Finale Win Over Brandon

BRANDON, Man. - All-Canadian Gage Grassick set a new Saskatchewan Huskie women's basketball record for assists in a single season as the Huskies downed the Brandon Bobcats 100-45 in their 2024-25 regular season finale.

Grassick recorded eight assists in the win and closes out the season with 120 total, surpassing former Huskie Jill Humbert's previous record of 113 set during the 2010-11 season. The fourth-year guard nearly set a single-game program record for steals, totaling eight to finish two shy of the record. She would also add 18 points and six rebounds in the win.

Grassick was one of five Huskies to close out the regular season with a double-digit point performance. Logan Reider recorded a game-high 20 points while Olivia Harm followed closely with 19 of her own for a season-high. Courtney Primeau and Maya Flindall would each record 14 while Anna Maelde led the Huskies on the glass with 11 rebounds.

The win sees the Dogs close out the season with an 18-game win streak, with the U SPORTS No. 3-ranked team having failed to lose a game since the opening weekend of the campaign. It also means Saskatchewan secures the No. 1 overall seed in the Canada West Playoffs and home court advantage through the duration of the conference postseason.

The game saw the Huskies earn an advantage in nearly every major statistic including field goal percentage (50% to 33%), 3-point field goal percentage (38% to 22%), points in the paint (52 to 20), points of turnovers (50 to 6), second chance points (23 to 3), and bench points (39 to 13) on the way to their conference clinching victory.

The next Huskie action will come on Saturday, February 22, when the Dogs will host the winner of the 8-seed vs 9-seed play-in game in a Canada West Quarterfinal.
