RESULTS
Â
For the second consecutive season the Huskie men's team saw two runners earn all-star status with top-14 finishes in
Anthony Antaya and
Alexander Webster. Antaya completed the 8km race in a time of 26:06.6 to claim 4th-place and first team honours while Webster finished closely behind in 6th with a time of 26:21.9, also earning a spot on the conference's first-team. The two First-Team All-Star finishes marked the first for the Huskie men's team since the 2002 season when current Huskie lead endurance coach
Jamie Epp, along with Steve McIntyre, earned first-team honours.Â
Jayvin Cross Child (22nd, 27:12.7),
Jacob White (28th, 27:24.8), and
Bennett Friesen (30th, 27:25.8) would round out the Huskie scorers on the day. Despite the strong individual results, Saskatchewan was unable to defend their podium position from a season ago, narrowly missing out on third-place and finishing just seven points behind the UBC Thunderbirds. The host Victoria Vikes could capture the conference title with a score of 40 points.
On the women's side,
Morgan Tiede was once again the first USask student-athlete to cross the finish line, earning a 25th-place finish as the Dog's top performer with a time of 31:55.4.
Brooklyn Roney would come in to finish in 28th with a time of 32:32.2 while Angelina Beverdige-Warick (30th, 32.50.7), Nathalie Toledo (34th, 33:39.2), and
Petra Tymko (35th, 33:43.7) completed the race in scoring positions for Saskatchewan. The women's podium saw the Victoria Vikes take home the Canada West title with 37 points while UBC (54 points) and UBCO (71st) rounded out the medal positions.Â
The Huskies also saw a pair of major award winners in Victoria in
Attleigh Maloney and
Alexander Webster, who were each recognized as the Canada West Student-Athlete Community Service Award winners for their athletic excellence, community service, and academic success.
The Huskies will now begin preparation for the 2025 U SPORTS Cross COuntry Championships set to take place in Sherbrooke, Quebec on Saturday, November 8, 2025.Â
