Box Score University of Saskatchewan's Jesse Ross and Parker Thomas each scored in the shootout to lift the Huskies 2-1 over the visiting University of Regina Cougars Saturday night in Saskatoon's Rutherford Rink.
Huskies' leading scorer Ross scored the first shootout goal by beating Regina netminder Lucas Gore with a shot that flipped into the top of the net. After Tyler Henry hit the post for the Cougars, Thomas scored for the Huskies top shelf blocker side. Cody Fowlie needed to score to keep Regina alive but his shot went into Huskie goalie Jordon Cooke's blocker.
With the win, the Huskies move to 6-8-0 on the season and salvage a split in the home-and-home series. The Cougars drop to 3-10-1. A night earlier, the Cougars won 3-1 in Regina.

In overtime, Saskatchewan had two power plays in the two extra five minute frames, but the Huskies couldn't get anything by Gore.
Fifth-year forward Craig McCallum opened the scoring for the Huskies with a quick shot beating Gore blocker side at 7:00 on the power play in the first period. The Huskies were on a five-minute power play after Austin Bourhis was given the major for a hit to the head.
With seven seconds left in the second period, the Cougars started on a rush into the Huskies' zone. Miguel Pereira shot from the left side deflected off Cooke's pad and in to tie the game with just two seconds left in the period.
Gore finished the game making 37 saves for the Cougars, while Cooke stopped 40 in the win for Saskatchewan.
The Huskies hit the road to face the Lethbridge Pronghorns, while Regina returns home to host the Mount Royal Cougars.
Game Notes: Huskies head coach Dave Adolph is now three wins away from tying the CIS record for most conference wins set by Alberta legendary coach Clare Drake. With Saturday's win, Adolph has 374 wins. The record is 377. He already holds the record for most games coached in the CIS.
