Clarence Garvie, a graduate of City Park Collegiate in Saskatoon, enrolled at teh University of Saskatchewan in 1931.

Clarence was an all-around athlete, playing Huskies football from 1932 to 1935, hockey from 1935-36 and competing on the Huskies swim team for three seasons: 1931-32, 1932-33 and 1934-35.

He received a Major Athletic Award in 1936.

Following his graduation from the University of Saskatchewan, Clarence devoted a lifetime to the teaching profession. He is best known as a builder of sport and physical education programs, serving as president of Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association (1952-53), president of the Saskatoon Hilltops (1968) and was active in the Saskatoon Track & Field Club.

Clarence was inducted as a builder in both the Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame and the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.
