Daniel Olver

Five-time Canada West champion Daniel Olver joined the Huskies coaching staff as interim coach in 2013-2014 and officially took over duties as the program's leader in 2015-2016.

Olver is the seventh head coach in the program’s history since 1980.

Olver has captured four Canada West titles as head coach: men's (2015-16 & 2019-20) women's (2016-17 & 2018-19) including leading the Huskie women to their first Canada West banner in program history.

A four-time Canada West Coach of the Year, Olver has twice been the U SPORTS Women's Coach of the Year (2018-19 & 2019-20). He also was named Huskie Coach of the Year in 2018-19. 

In 2019-20 both the Huskie men and women finished in second place at the U SPORTS National Championships. For the men it was their best finish since 2005, and for the women it marked the third time in four years that they placed as a top three team in the nation.

Olver spent five seasons in a Huskies uniform from 2006 to 2011.  His career was named a Top 10 Moment in Huskie Athletics history after winning five straight Canada West championships in either the 76- or 82-kg weight class and adding five CIS medals – one bronze, two silver and two gold. As captain, a CIS Academic All-Canadian and Huskie Athletics Council representative, he was a role model for not only the wrestling team but all student-athletes.

His resume also comprises of four Canada West major awards including Most Outstanding Wrestler and three Huskie Athletics major awards winning the prestigious Rusty McDonald Cup in 2011.

Since finishing his CIS career, Olver, who worked for the Coaches Association of Saskatchewan as Aboriginal Sport Coordinator, has continued to compete qualifying for the University World Championship in Finland in 2012. He also placed second at the Canada Cup in 2012.
