Huskie Athlete of the Week (Sept. 25, 2017):
Rookie University of Saskatchewan midfielder Kwame Opoku scored two goals and one assist in a weekend split at home.
The Engineering student from Calgary played in all 90-minutes Saturday recording a goal and an assist in the 6-0 win over the Victoria Vikes. Opoku assisted on the Huskies’ second goal in the 35th minute, followed by converting on a penalty kick in the 58th minute.
A day later, Opoku scored once again on a penalty kick in the 14th minute for the Huskies’ lone goal in a 2-1 loss to the Thompson Rivers WolfPack.
Opoku and the Huskies remain at home for the final weekend in Saskatoon to meet the MacEwan Griffins and Alberta Golden Bears.
Huskie Athlete of the Week (Aug. 28, 2017):
Rookie midfielder Kwame Opoku turned heads in his first-ever Canada West men’s soccer series helping the Huskies to a sweep of the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns.
The Engineering student from Calgary played in all 90-minutes Saturday in his debut for the Huskies and recorded the assist on the lone goal in the match. Opoku sent a cross-pass into the middle for the goal in the 59th minute.
A day later, Opoku tallied the game-winner in a 2-1 win after knocking in the ball from a corner kick in the 61st minute. He played 45 minutes in the match.
Opoku and the Huskies travel to Edmonton to meet the MacEwan Griffins and Alberta Golden Bears in the second week of men’s soccer action.
