WINNIPEG, Man. - Coming off arguably their biggest win of the season, the Winnipeg Wesmen didn't let up on Friday against the Saskatchewan Huskies.
The Wesmen held the Dogs to 23 first-half points and otherwise cruised to a 73-57 Canada West conference victory Friday night at the Duckworth Centre.
Ryan Luke scored a game-high 20 points — his second career 20-point game — on 8-for-11 shooting as the Wesmen improved to 9-2 on the season and moved into second place in the Prairie Division.
Winnipeg held the Huskies (0-11) to nine second-quarter points and an early 9-2 run that straddled the first and second quarters allowed the Wesmen to take a 15-12 edge and stretch it to 24-14 just six seconds into the second on a Kato Jaro three.
The Wesmen held the Huskies to five points over the final 7:40 of the half, using a 15-5 run that gave them a 39-23 lead at the half.
Luke also added six rebounds and three assists in leading three Wesmen in double figures. All 11 Wesmen player saw the floor.
Shawn Maranan, who was injured and missed last weekend's split with Calgary, returned to the floor and had 19 points on 6 of 8 shooting while making 5-for-7 from three. He also added four assists.
Kato Jaro scored 11 off the bench and grabbed five rebounds.
Emmanuel Bonsu scored 17 points to lead the Huskies, who lost by double digits for the eighth time this season. Owen Murphy scored 11 points off the bench.
