HIGHLIGHTS
The Huskies took no time building a sizable lead against the Wesmen, jumping out to a 4-0 advantage just 14 minutes into the contest.
Opening the scoring was
Tia Lecox, a transfer from the Wesmen, who scored her second of the game just 8 minutes later. A product of Ottawa, Ontatio, Lecox has impressed through three games this season, finding the back on the net four times. Also scoring in the opening minutes was veteran striker
Marie Kilcher, who scored back-to-back goals in the 7
th and 12
th minutes.
Returning to the pitch for the second half with a 4-0 lead, the Huskies lineup saw several substitutions as they looked to get more players involved in the offensive outburst.
Just three minutes into the frame,
Marie Kilcher returned to the scoresheet, recording her second career hattrick.
Seven minutes later, Saskatchewan saw their third goal scorer of the game when
Madison Mayert buried a rebound for her first career goal. Mayert entered the game with three career points, all assists, before becoming the sixth Huskie goal scorer in 2024.
Mayert's goal sparked another offensive push from the Huskies as they would see a fourth goal scorer in
Alyssa D'Agnone 35 seconds later. D'Agnone scored on a well-timed shot from 10 yards out after a fantastic crossing pass from
Nicole Burnett. Burnett, a third-year winger, would pick up three assists after helping out on Kilcher's first score and D'Agnone's second of the game.
D'Agnone would score again 1:30 later, completing her first career hattrick in just 4:25 of gametime.
Midfielder
Jade Houmphanh also appeared on the scoresheet with her third point of the campaign after assisting on Kilcher's second goal.
The ninth Saskatchewan goal of the game also solidified the record-tying match for the Dogs, who tied a single-game scoring record. The record was originally set in the 2010 season, when the Huskies earned a 9-0 victory over the Lethbridge Pronghorns.
