SASKATOON, SK – Saskatchewan welcomed their provincial rivals to Griffiths Stadium in Nutrien Park to close the U-Prairie Challenge weekend series presented by Sask Milk. Coming off a 1-0 victory in Regina on Friday night the Huskies took the momentum home and sealed the weekend sweep. Historically, the Huskies have gone 42-7-9 all time in matchups with Regina.
Saskatchewan (7-3-1) opened the scoring action with a dagger from
Jade Houmphanh (26') assisted by
Caitlin Stove. They then added to their lead before closing the half with a goal by Cheyenne Lehman in 41
st minute.
The second half started off in the hands of two dominant defenses until the sole fifth-year Huskie,
Hailey Weber, sent a ball to the back of the net in her final regular season home game (77').
Regina would manage to break the shutout with a late unassisted goal by Kirsten Koellmel in the 90
th minute.
Saskatchewan outshot Regina 15-4 in the match. With 10 in the first half alone the Huskies managed to outrun the Cougars and maintain the lead through to the finish.
The win gives the Huskies a 8-3-1 record, while Regina sits at 2-6-4. Saskatchewan is tied with MacEwan for top spot in the Canada West Prairie Division, with 25 points each. MacEwan is one game behind Saskatchewan however, with 11 games played to the Huskies 12.

- It was a special night for the Huskies as it was the annual Play for a Cure game. The team wore special white and pink jerseys tonight that were auctioned off, with proceeds going to support breast cancer research.
