SASKATOON, SK – The Huskies welcomed the Dinos Saturday afternoon to Griffiths Stadium in Nutrien Park for an overdue match. This game was the result of a reschedule due to poor air quality on September 1st. After a hard-fought battle, on this sunny Saturday in Saskatoon, the Huskies fell short and sent the Dinos home with a hard fought 2-1 victory.
The Huskies were coming off a road loss in Calgary just six days prior and were hungry to hold off the Dinos. The Huskies have gone 27-79-17 all-time in matchups with the Dinos, and have not overcome them since 2019.
Calgary (4-5-2) opened the scoring action with a header from Victor Goutton (23'). They were quick to follow up and add to their lead with a penalty kick goal by Giamarco Plenzik (29').
Though the Dinos got off to a fast start, the Huskies carried the play in the 2nd half and outshot Calgary 16-4 in the match, which showed the hunger of the Huskies offence.
Diego Reveco got the Dogs on the board with an unassisted goal in the 43rd minute that sent the teams into the second half 2-1 in favour of the Dinos.
The scoring would stop after Reveco's goal, and the rest of the game fell into the hands of two dominant defenses and ultimately in favour of the Dinos.
