BRANDON, Man. – The Bobcats were forced to play catch-up on Saturday night and fell 91-75 against the Saskatchewan Huskies in Canada West men's basketball action.
The Huskies took command early with a 19-6 lead in the first quarter en route to sweeping the weekend series to start the regular season.
"We came in hot and came in playing very tough," said Maxwell Amoafo, who grabbed 11 rebounds for Saskatchewan. "We made some mistakes, but we came here to win two games and we accomplished that."
Brandon cut the deficit to 26-20 to start the second quarter, but Saskatchewan pushed back to go ahead 48-36 at halftime.
BU trimmed to the Huskies' lead to 80-70, but that is as close as they got.
Saskatchewan had three players with 16 points each in Nervens Demosthene, Tyrese Potoma and Marquavian Stephens.
The Huskies put their 2-0 record on the line this coming weekend when they play the Regina Cougars on November 5-6.
