SASKATOON – After a dominant 2018-19 season that saw them record a program-best 25 wins, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies men's hockey team will get their post-season underway with a best-of-three semifinal series at Merlis Belsher Place this weekend.
The Huskies ended the season on a ten-game winning streak and have been dominant on home-ice this season, with a 13-1-0 record in their new arena. With home-ice advantage secured throughout the playoffs, a Huskies' win will see them host the Canada West Championship series from March 1-3.
The Cougars, who are in the post-season for the sixth-consecutive season will enter the Bridge City after quarter-final victory over the UBC Thunderbirds. Taking place in Vancouver, the series went all three games with Mount Royal wining 4-2 in Game 1 and then taking Game 3 by a score of 5-2.
Throughout the regular season the Huskies won all four games between the teams but the Cougars were able to force overtime in two of those contests. Saskatchewan has won the last ten games between the two teams and hold a 23-8 advantage all-time against Mount Royal.
