REGULAR SEASON

With a bye through the first round of the playoffs clinched, the Huskies (16-2) will be looking to secure home court advantage throughout the duration of the Canada West postseason when they take on their provincial rivals, the Regina Cougars (15-3). These teams tangled twice in the playoffs last year, with the Cougars defeating the Huskies in the Canada West Championship game and Saskatchewan returning the favour in the U SPORTS Semifinal, en route to a silver medal at the national championship.

The Huskies (10-8) know they will be hosting a playoff game and will end their regular season schedule in Regina against the Cougars (13-5) with the teams battling over fourth place and a bye through to the Canada West Quarter-finals. Saskatchewan secured at least hosting a conference play-in game with a split at home last weekend with the Alberta Golden Bears. Regina also split in their last action, trading wins with the Winnipeg Wesmen.

Saturday, Feb. 2: at MRU Cougars 7:00 p.m. Calgary, AB (Watch Online / Live Stats)

Already assured a spot in the playoffs, one point this weekend will be enough for the Huskies (14-8-2) to clinch fourth in the conference and the first ever playoff series to be played in Merlis Belsher Place. Saskatchewan will travel to Calgary to take on the Mount Royal Cougars (9-12-2) who need to win their final four games and hope that the Huskies lose all four of theirs in regulation to jump Saskatchewan for fourth.

A weekend sweep that saw them outscore UBC 9-0 over two games allowed the Huskies (21-3-0) to remain atop the Canada West conference by one point over rivals Alberta. The team will now stay in Saskatoon for their final regular season home games against the Mount Royal Cougars (11-8-4). The game on Saturday night will make the final regular season home game for graduating Huskies Jesse Forsberg, Michael Sofillas and Parker Thomas.
