SASKATOON - The Huskies picked up an impressive series split on the road against the UBC Thunderbirds this past weekend. Saskatchewan defeated the home side 102-93, in the second game of the series as they bounced back from a 92-87 loss on Friday night. Lawrence Moore, the Canada West's second leading scorer in the 2017-18 season, continued to play a huge role in the Huskies offence in the contests, as the fifth-year guard stuffed the stat sheet on opening weekend.
 
Fraser Valley also enters the matchup with a 1-1 record, after an opening series split against the Thompson Rivers WolfPack. After a narrow 69-64 loss in their home opener, the Cascades rebounded with an impressive 83-72 victory the following night. Fraser Valley will be looking to send a message to the Canada West, after the team was ranked 13th in the preseason coach's poll.
 
The Huskies and Cascades last clashed in the 2016-17 season. The two teams split the series, as Fraser Valley took down the road side on their own floor by a score of 59-50. The Huskies bounced back in the second game of the series defeating the Cascades 78-62.

Scouting the Cascades
 
After missing out on the playoffs in 2017-18, the Cascades will be looking to get back to the big dance under the guidance of head coach Adam Friesen, who returns for 7th season at the helm of the program.
 
The Cascades will be aiming to improve on a 5-15 record, which included a 1-10 record away from home, as they hit the road for the first time this season.
 
Fraser Valley's 2017-18 leading scorer and rebounder Mark Johnson, a fifth-year forward, will return for his final season with the program. The Palm Springs, California native totalled 13.8 points and 7.7 rebounds per game last season.
 
Sukhjot Bains, a transfer from Green Bay-Wisconsin, made his Cascades debut over the weekend and in his first regular season game with the team he racked up 27 points and five rebounds.
