COOKE MAKES 36 SAVE SHUTOUT OVER T-BIRDS

Rookie University of Saskatchewan goaltender Jordan Cooke posted a 36 save shutout in a 4-0 to Huskie win over the visiting UBC Thunderbirds Saturday night in Saskatoon's Rutherford Rink.

In his first CIS shutout, the former CHL Goaltender of the Year made 14 saves in the first period and 11 saves in the second and third periods.

With the win, the No. 4 ranked Huskies remain undefeated on the season with a  4-0-0 record completing the weekend sweep over the Thunderbirds. The T-Birds drop to 1-2-1 with the loss. A night earlier Saskatchewan won 2-1 in overtime.

It wasn't until the second period that Saskatchewan found the net.

Third-year forward Jesse Ross tallied at 9:07 in the second frame. Sean Aschim added Saskatchewan's second goal at 18:34. Rookie defence man Jordan Fransoo added the third and fourth goals for the Huskies both on the power play in the third period. Fransoo's first CIS goal was scored just 44 seconds into the frame and his second at 5:01.

Despite the loss, UBC goaltender Eric Williams was still strong in net making 33 saves.

The Huskies remain at home to host the Manitoba Bisons next weekend, while UBC returns home to host the Mount Royal Cougars.
