Ethan Laing, a defensive back for the Saskatchewan Huskie football team, takes home Athlete of the Week honours after a standout performance on Saturday against the Regina Rams. The former Holy Cross Crusader was hard to miss at Griffiths, making plays all over the Saskatchewan secondary. Laing registered a team-high five solo tackles, a pass breakup, and a forced fumble in the Dogs’ 22-20 win over the Rams. His biggest pay of the game came late in the third quarter with the Huskies trailing in a defensive battle. Laing made a perfectly timed tackle which knocked the ball out of the Regina ball carriers’ hands and right to a teammate. The turnover led to points the on the ensuing drive, giving the Huskies the cushion they needed to run away with the game late in the fourth.
