Veteran netminder of the Huskie men's hockey team, Roddy Ross, takes home Athlete of the Week honours after a standout performance against the U SPORTS No. 4-ranked Calgary Dinos. The fourth-year arts & science major turned aside 40 shots in regulation and overtime before denying all eight shooters for Calgary in the shootout to help the No 9-ranked Dogs upset the Dinos. Ross' best save of the night came in the dying seconds of the third period when he was forced to make a diving save on the doorstep with the Huskies facing a 5-on-3 Dino powerplay. His play not only allowed the Dogs to steal an extra point, but it also kick started an impressive weekend for the Huskies. Ross currently sits 2nd in the conference in both goals against average (1.44) and save percentage (.959) while helping lead one of three undefeated teams in the conference through fours games.
